"Yes They Think They Can Dance."

"Yes They Think They Can Dance."

On Saturday, November 4, after six weeks of studying various dance styles including ballet, modern dance and jazz, nine students in grades one through four at Hillside Catholic Academy had the opportunity to perform for family and friends in a mini-recital on stage at the Academy. They enjoyed themselves and were pleased to show their audience what they had learned. Students who participated in the program were: Briana Raposo, Diamond Waite, Angelique Drayton, Isabel Morales, Nameshia Chestnut, P. Clark, Kaia Reed, Alyssa Alvarez and Kailah Paterson.

Earlier this fall, the students enrolled in the pilot program. The goal of the series was to increase students' awareness and appreciation of dance as an art form. They learned basic dance steps while increasing their coordination, self discipline, and confidence. The program was a great success because all the students were eager to learn with instructor Sara Funicello. “I was so excited to introduce dance to these young students,” she stated. “It is my hope that their interest in this art form continues, even after this program ends.”
